The problem with owning a guitar is knowing where to put it

So it luxuriates against furniture, until you just ignore it

A guitar is like a promise -- you can never ever break it
But when someone sees you got one it's expected that you play it
Not an unreasonable request -- unfortunately she made it
So I dug out my fake book and tried my best to fake it

She lied, "Yay, you could make a great star"
I tried to say, "I don't really play guitar"
She replied, "Hey, but you already kind of are playing guitar and since steady progress can only take you so far . . . Dan Smith will teach you guitar"
