daylight:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/airplane\/jetblue645\/0305-12-12.jpg\" alt=\"JetBlue 645, May 12, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The not so great thing is that you are often limited to getting take-out for dinner, although burritos from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/mission\/laespigadeoro\/index.htm\">La Espiga De Oro<\/a> in San Francisco&#8217;s Mission District were nothing to whimper about:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/mission\/laespigadeoro\/0305-12-12.jpg\" alt=\"La Espiga De Oro, 2916 24th Street, Mission District, San Francisco, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then at least one of us went for a drink at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/soma\/bloodhound\/index.htm\">Bloodhound<\/a>, which was next to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/soma\/americasbestvalue\/index.htm\">hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, May 13, 2012: San Francisco<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Early coffee at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/soma\/sightglass\/index.htm\">Sightglass<\/a> before Mother&#8217;s Day dim sum at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/financialdistrict\/rinconcenter\/yanksing\/index.htm\">Yank Sing<\/a>, where we did not have a reservation and where we were lucky to get in (benefits of getting up early):<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" May 13, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The parking lot at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/financialdistrict\/rinconcenter\/index.htm\">Rincon Center<\/a> is ridiculously tight and I&#8217;m not totally sure why, though this time I thought to take a picture of it:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We walked along the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/embarcadero\/embarcadero\/index.htm\">waterfront<\/a> because some moms like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/embarcadero\/ferrybuilding\/index.htm\">Ferry Building<\/a> and some uncles like the Blue Bottle Marketplace, San Francisco, California, May 13, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Until now we haven&#8217;t paid much attention to playgrounds, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/mission\/dolorespark\/index.htm\">Dolores Park<\/a>&#8216;s new playground is one of the nicest I&#8217;ve ever seen, and a four-month-old strapped to your chest gives you the cover you need to explore it:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dinner was take-out bread bowl from Boudin, which was purchased while the baby slept in the back seat and I took a long (turns out unnecessarily long) detour down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/northbeach\/columbusavenue\/index.htm\">Columbus Avenue<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanfrancisco\/northbeach\/columbusavenue\/1105-13-12.jpg\" alt=\"Columbus Avenue Near Pacific Avenue, North Beach, San Francisco, California\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/us101\/index.htm\">US 101<\/a> toward San Jose before deciding to detour to see what Palo Alto, Stanford and Mountain View looked like. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santaclaracounty\/paloalto\/paloalto\/index.htm\">Palo Alto<\/a> is where Jeremy Lin grew up:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santaclaracounty\/paloalto\/05-14-12\/0905-14-12.jpg\" alt=\"Palo Alto High School, Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto, California, May 14, 2012\" 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But really, the whole point of driving this way was to see the &#8220;beautiful . . . but bizarre!&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santaclaracounty\/sanjose\/winchestermysteryhouse\/index.htm\">Winchester Mystery House<\/a> (the YouTube video at the link is intended to capture that phrase, which you hear over and over when you visit the house; it became a trip meme):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Santa Cruz Mountains, we started our epic trip down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/index.htm\">Highway 1<\/a> from Santa Cruz. The first leg &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-14-12\/index.htm\">Santa Cruz to Monterey<\/a> is not the most picturesque part of the road:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-14-12\/0305-14-12.jpg\" alt=\"Highway 1\/Cabrillo Highway Near Morrissey Boulevard, Santa Cruz, California, May 14, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-14-12\/1905-14-12.jpg\" alt=\"Moss Landing Power Plant, Highway 1\/Cabrillo Highway at Dolan Road, Moss Landing, California, May 14, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But we did get to see artichokes growing in the fields along the side of the highway:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-14-12\/2905-14-12.jpg\" alt=\"Highway 1\/Cabrillo Highway Between Castroville and Marina, California, May 14, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/monterey\/wharf2\/sandbargrill\/index.htm\">dinner<\/a> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/monterey\/wharf2\/index.htm\">municipal wharf<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/monterey\/monterey\/index.htm\">Monterey<\/a> early enough to catch a beautiful sunset from the Rocky Shores addition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/pacificgrove\/asilomarstatebeach\/index.htm\">Asilomar State Beach<\/a> in Pacific Grove (baby&#8217;s first Pacific Coast sunset!):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/pacificgrove\/asilomarstatebeach\/2805-14-12.jpg\" alt=\"Rocky Shores Addition, Asilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, May 15, 2012: Pacific Grove to Paso Robles<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter waking up on the not-as-early side, we left <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/pacificgrove\/seabreezeinn\/index.htm\">the hotel<\/a> and started driving down the coast, beginning with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/pacificgrove\/oceanviewboulevard\/index.htm\">Ocean View Boulevard<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/pacificgrove\/sunsetdrive\/index.htm\">Sunset Drive<\/a> in Pacific Grove, then connecting to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/17miledrive\/index.htm\">17-Mile Drive<\/a> through the Del Monte Forest and Pebble Beach:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/17miledrive\/2605-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"Lone Cypress, 17-Mile Drive, Monterey County, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(An aside: Even though they tell you how long it is, it&#8217;s not a great idea to drive 17 miles on an empty stomach.) (Another aside: I assumed there was some connection with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Del_Monte,_California\">Del Monte<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Del_Monte_Foods\">the food people<\/a>, and there sort of is, but it&#8217;s not as interesting as I thought it would be, meaning no aristocratic family farmed the land there and built a forest or whatnot.)<\/p>\n<p>We had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/carmel\/carmelbelle\/index.htm\">breakfast<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/carmel\/carmel\/index.htm\">Carmel<\/a> before setting out on the prettiest drive of the trip, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/index.htm\">Highway 1 between Carmel and Cambria, through Big Sur<\/a>. Yes, that sign warns of families wild boars crossing the road:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/montereycounty\/carmel\/05-15-12\/1905-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"Wild Boar Crossing Sign, Highway 1 Near Oliver Road, Carmel, California, May 15, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/carmelhighlandsoverlook\/index.htm\">All<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/overlook\/index.htm\">the overlooks<\/a> we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/overlooksouthofbigsur\/index.htm\">stopped at<\/a> during the drive down that day were stunning, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/hurricanepoint\/index.htm\">Hurricane Point<\/a> might have been the most stunning, windy and foggy and way up on the hill overlooking the ocean:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/02805-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"Hurricane Point, Highway 1 Between Carmel and Big Sur, California, May 15, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A tip: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/henrymillermemoriallibrary\/index.htm\">Henry Miller Memorial Library<\/a> is closed only one day a week, which is Tuesday, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/elephantsealrookery\/index.htm\">Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery<\/a> is always open:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/highway1\/05-15-12\/17105-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery, Highway 1 Near San Simeon, California, May 15, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We were really impressed with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/blackoakmotorlodge\/index.htm\">Best Western Plus<\/a> we stayed at in Paso Robles. That night we had dinner at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/templeton\/ajspurs\/index.htm\">A.J. Spurs<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/templeton\/templeton\/index.htm\">Templeton<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/templeton\/ajspurs\/0905-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"A.J. Spurs, 508 North Main Street, Templeton, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gas that day cost $4.35 a gallon at the Arco on Ramada Drive in Paso Robles:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/1900ramadadrive\/0605-15-12.jpg\" alt=\"Arco, 1900 Ramada Drive, Paso Robles, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, May 16, 2012: Paso Robles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Goober says that the high point of the trip for him was breakfast at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/blackoakmotorlodge\/margiesdiner\/index.htm\">Margie&#8217;s Diner<\/a> in Paso Robles:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/blackoakmotorlodge\/1805-16-12.jpg\" alt=\"Margie's Diner, 1135 24th Street, Paso Robles, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was a great breakfast (we ate there twice), but I think he thought that it was especially nice because it evoked a sense of promise for the rest of the trip, and probably a little because we were filling up before going out tasting wine around Paso Robles.<\/p>\n<p>Now &#8220;Paso Robles&#8221; means something along the lines of &#8220;oak tree pass&#8221; or something like that, so it was cool to see actual oak trees out on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/nacimientolakedrive\/index.htm\">Chimney Rock Road<\/a> on our way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/justin\/index.htm\">Justin Vineyards<\/a> (baby&#8217;s first wine tasting!):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/nacimientolakedrive\/1405-16-12.jpg\" alt=\"Chimney Rock Road, Paso Robles, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A word about how people in California pronounce Spanish things: &#8220;Paso Robles,&#8221; I didn&#8217;t learn until much later in the trip, is not pronounced &#8220;Pah-so Robe-less,&#8221; like you&#8217;d expect from three years of high school Spanish, but rather &#8220;Pah-so Row-bills,&#8221; like you&#8217;re specifically trying to mangle the accent. It sort of sounds like how Bugs Bunny mispronounces &#8220;Los Angeles&#8221; with <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2011\/jun\/26\/local\/la-me-0626-then-20110626\">a hard &#8220;G&#8221;<\/a>, until you remember that &#8220;Los Angeles&#8221; itself is mispronounced, and then all names everywhere in California, and especially Los Angeles, start seeming ridiculous. Los Feliz? No, try &#8220;Los Feelies.&#8221; &#8220;La Cienega&#8221; is not &#8220;La <em>See<\/em>-en-ay-ga&#8221; but rather &#8220;Lahsee-<em>en<\/em>-uh-gah.&#8221; Same with &#8220;Sepulveda.&#8221; It&#8217;s like a city full of folks who talk about how crazy Eye-ran is being while they eat Eye-talian food made by a guy from Vee-It-<em>Naaam<\/em> (i.e., rhymes with &#8220;Sam I Am&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we continued to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/adelaidacellars\/index.htm\">Adelaida Cellars<\/a>, then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/tablascreekvineyard\/index.htm\">Tablas Creek Vineyard<\/a> where we debated bringing home a grape cutting, not that the zone is right for one but it was fun to think about:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" took <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/vineyarddrive\/index.htm\">Vineyard Drive<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/templeton\/turleywinecellars\/index.htm\">Turley Wine Cellars<\/a> just south of Highway 46, then hit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/ninerwineestates\/index.htm\">Niner<\/a> and the Dr. Suess-sounding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/windwardvineyard\/index.htm\">Windward Vineyard<\/a> before heading back to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/pasorobles\/index.htm\">Paso Row-Bills<\/a> where we had dinner at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/pasorobles\/thomashillorganics\/index.htm\">Thomas Hill Organics<\/a> downtown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, May 17, 2012: Paso Robles to Buellton<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/sr46\/index.htm\"><br \/>\nDrove out<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/sanluisobispocounty\/hearstcastle\/index.htm\">Hearst Castle<\/a>, the second house we visited built by a nutty rich I assumed all the Sambo&#8217;s had closed, and they mostly have, but this is the one remaining restaurant, the one that began the chain. As for the name, it&#8217;s supposedly misunderstood (the owners were &#8220;Sam&#8221; and &#8220;Bo&#8221;), although it seems odd that they still use imagery that evokes the controversial connotation. But the food is good:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/sambos\/0305-19-12.jpg\" alt=\"Sambo's Restaurant, 216 West Cabrillo Boulevard, Santa Barbara, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Santa Barbara is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/statestreet\/index.htm\">a beautiful town to drive around<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/santabarbaramission\/index.htm\">the mission is beautiful as well<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/santabarbaramission\/0805-19-12.jpg\" alt=\"Mission Santa Barbara, 2201 Laguna Street, Santa Barbara, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We dipped the baby&#8217;s toes into the Pacific Ocean at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/eastbeach\/index.htm\">East Beach<\/a>, though he did not like it much:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/santabarbaracounty\/santabarbara\/eastbeach\/0205-19-12.jpg\" alt=\"East Beach, Santa Barbara, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We then got back on US 101 and spent hours stuck on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/us101\/venturafreeway\/index.htm\">Ventura Freeway<\/a>. Just when you start to think California is magical, you get stuck in traffic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday, May 20, 2012: Los Angeles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/farmersdaughter\/index.htm\">Farmer&#8217;s Daughter Hotel<\/a> in Los Angeles is a nicely updated motel and convenient to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/farmersmarket\/index.htm\">Farmers Market<\/a> (where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/farmersmarket\/shortcake\/index.htm\">they now have really good fancy coffee<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/farmersdaughter\/1805-20-12.jpg\" alt=\"Farmer's Daughter Hotel, 115 South Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had never seen the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/hancockpark\/index.htm\">La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park<\/a> and it was as strange and wonderful and as stinky as I&#8217;d hoped it would be. I saw people relaxing there, which seemed relaxing in the way that hanging out behind an asphalt truck might be relaxing:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/hancockpark\/1205-20-12.jpg\" alt=\"La Brea Tar Pits, Hancock Park, Los Angeles, California\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From there we walked around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/santamonica\/santamonica\/index.htm\">Santa Monica<\/a> and passed by the Natural Resources Defense Council building which I discovered later seems to be the real-life spot of one of the semi-autobiographical side plots in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hbo.com\/curb-your-enthusiasm\/episodes\/6\/52-the-anonymous-donor\/synopsis.html\">a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/santamonica\/13142ndstreet\/0105-20-12.jpg\" alt=\"Natural Resources Defense Council, 1314 2nd Street, Santa Monica, California, May 20, 2012\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know it&#8217;s my own damn fault that I always think of Sheryl Crow when we&#8217;re on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/santamonicaboulevard\/index.htm\">Santa Monica Boulevard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/zankou\/index.htm\">Zankou Chicken<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.laweekly.com\/squidink\/2011\/08\/jonathan_gold_palestinian_chic.php\">another sort of Larry David locale<\/a>) is really, really good chicken.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to drive down one of those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/outoftown\/california\/losangeles\/beverlyhills\/beverlyhills\/index.htm\">Beverly Hills<\/a> streets with all the palm trees.
