{"id":1120,"date":"2006-06-02T16:35:23","date_gmt":"2006-06-03T00:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2006\/06\/a_nose_for_news.html"},"modified":"2006-06-02T16:35:23","modified_gmt":"2006-06-03T00:35:23","slug":"a_nose_for_news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/06\/a_nose_for_news.html","title":{"rendered":"A Nose For News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>God help me if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.queenstribune.com\/qconf\/UpForAChallenge.html\">Andrea Peyser ever follows me into the bathroom (scroll past the always-tasteful Q Confidential profile at the top of the page)<\/a> &#8212; she&#8217;s a real pain in the ass:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Maria Minucci, mother of Howard Beach defendant Nicholas &#8220;Fat Nick&#8221; Minucci, did her best to flush out reporters and columnists who hounded her on the first day of her son&#8217;s hate crime trial at Queens Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>When NY Post columnist Andrea Peyser and a slew of newshounds followed Minucci and a friend into a courthouse bathroom, Mama Minucci quickly locked herself in a stall &#8212; shouting for the press to &#8220;leave her alone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When Peyser asked Minucci &#8212; through the stall door &#8212; if she thought her son had lost a lot of weight since his arrest, the friend piped up, &#8220;We&#8217;re here for two reasons, ONE and TWO. Get it? Now go!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The answer didn&#8217;t work, though. The group waited, and followed Minucci and her friend back into the courtroom.
