{"id":1622,"date":"2006-09-29T10:34:25","date_gmt":"2006-09-29T18:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2006\/09\/its_good_to_be_beep.html"},"modified":"2008-01-24T17:37:09","modified_gmt":"2008-01-24T22:37:09","slug":"its_good_to_be_3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/09\/its_good_to_be_3.html","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s Good To Be Beep!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parking spaces? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/boroughs\/story\/456618p-384283c.html\">We don&#8217;t need no stinking parking spaces<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Borough President Marty Markowitz has 13 coveted parking spots in traffic-congested downtown Brooklyn &#8212; but that hasn&#8217;t stopped him and his staff from using the Borough Hall pedestrian plaza as an illegal parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily News found up to 17 cars at a time parked on the flagstone plaza in the last three months &#8212; even though it&#8217;s in the middle of Columbus Park, a city park.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is illegal for anyone to park on the pedestrian plaza around Borough Hall,&#8221; said a city official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>Markowitz&#8217;s own black SUV is routinely parked on the sidewalk on Joralemon St. next to a busy newspaper kiosk amid a throng of pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>. . .<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You don&#8217;t need a car,&#8221; said [Larry] Johnson. &#8220;There&#8217;s a bus and train on every corner.
