{"id":1792,"date":"2006-11-17T11:12:34","date_gmt":"2006-11-17T19:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2006\/11\/the_next_generation_clamors_for_more_acoustic_guitar_and_jazz_yippies_here_to_help_standup_comedy_too.html"},"modified":"2006-11-17T11:12:34","modified_gmt":"2006-11-17T19:12:34","slug":"the_next_genera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/11\/the_next_genera.html","title":{"rendered":"The Next Generation Clamors For More Acoustic Guitar And Jazz; Yippies Here To Help; Standup Comedy, Too!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/03\/the_nolitaizati.html\">The Yippie Museum and Coffeehouse<\/a> makes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thevillager.com\/villager_185\/stealthiscoffeehouse.html\">its raucuous debut<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>They were a countercultural movement springing out of the Youth International Party (Y.I.P.), embracing many of the &#8217;60s most colorful characters, including political activists Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin.<\/p>\n<p>Now, The Yippie Museum and Coffeehouse at 9 Bleecker St. is set to celebrate that culture &#8212; perhaps even revive it for a new generation that&#8217;s fed up with politics and war.<\/p>\n<p>Dana Beal, a self-described &#8220;second-wave&#8221; Yippie, part of a younger generation of Yippies who got involved after the movement&#8217;s beginnings, and the original owner and resident of 9 Bleecker St., announced plans for the museum, coffeehouse, gift shop and counterculture comedy club in February.<\/p>\n<p>While the museum is not fully completed, the coffeehouse and venue were inaugurated this past weekend with the sounds of acoustic guitar and jazz.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was real,&#8221; said Steve Stollman, of the Steve Stollman Experience, who performed on Saturday. &#8220;It was quite nice, quite relaxed.
