{"id":2073,"date":"2007-02-01T11:09:13","date_gmt":"2007-02-01T19:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2007\/02\/this_resolution_brought_to_you_by_the_letter_n_alphabet_industry_lobbyists_decry_overbroad_legislation.html"},"modified":"2007-02-01T11:09:13","modified_gmt":"2007-02-01T19:09:13","slug":"this_resolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/02\/this_resolution.html","title":{"rendered":"This Resolution Brought To You By The Letter N: Alphabet Industry Lobbyists Decry &#8220;Overbroad&#8221; Legislation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Community Board 13 in Queens has pre-empted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/01\/there_oughta_be_2.html\">councilmember&#8217;s non-binding resolution to ban N words<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesledger.com\/site\/news.cfm?newsid=17749191&#038;BRD=2676&#038;PAG=461&#038;dept_id=551068&#038;rfi=6\">submitting their own non-binding resolution to ban N words<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Taking a cue from City Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans), Community Board 13 Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution barring the use of the &#8220;N&#8221; word as Black History Month approaches in February.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We members of Community Board 13 have the opportunity to distinguish ourselves as proud residents of a truly diverse community,&#8221; said CB 13 member Paul Rubenfeld, who drafted the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully, the results of this resolution would place us in the forefront of eliminating ethnic discrimination and maintaining our high quality of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The board unanimously approved the measure in a voice vote.
