{"id":2366,"date":"2007-06-01T09:40:56","date_gmt":"2007-06-01T17:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2007\/06\/no_not_the_unprecedented_triple-assed_ass_assassination.html"},"modified":"2007-06-01T09:40:56","modified_gmt":"2007-06-01T17:40:56","slug":"no_not_the_unpr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/06\/no_not_the_unpr.html","title":{"rendered":"No, Not The Unprecedented Triple-Assed &#8220;Ass Assassination&#8221;!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charles Barron is a city treasure and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/seven\/06012007\/news\/regionalnews\/council_assassin_regionalnews_andy_soltis.htm\">Washington needs him<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Councilman Leroy Comrie was given additional police protection Wednesday night following an emotional council debate over a proposal to rename a Brooklyn street after controversial black activist Sonny Carson.<\/p>\n<p>The measure was voted down along racial lines, but Comrie joined a handful of black and Hispanic councilmen who abstained.<\/p>\n<p>Their abstention outraged other black council members and their supporters, who had rallied earlier on the steps of City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>After the noisy vote, Viola Plummer, chief of staff for Councilman Charles Barron &#8212; who was a strong backer of the Carson proposal &#8212; said Comrie would never realize his goal of being elected Queens borough president.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If it takes an assassination of his ass, he will not be borough president of the borough in which I live,&#8221; Plummer said outside City Hall, according to the politicker.com Web site.<\/p>\n<p>Comrie, a Democrat from St. Albans, had no comment.<\/p>\n<p>But sources said he got extra protection late Wednesday because of &#8220;some concern&#8221; about his safety going home.<\/p>\n<p>Comrie&#8217;s additional security was dropped yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Barron (D-Brooklyn) laughed off the incident as &#8220;absurd.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[Comrie] knows Viola. She said his political life is over. He didn&#8217;t need any extra security.
