{"id":2799,"date":"2007-09-25T08:19:10","date_gmt":"2007-09-25T16:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2007\/09\/the_way_the_q54_strays_now_that_atlas_park_is_down_the_way.html"},"modified":"2007-09-25T08:19:10","modified_gmt":"2007-09-25T16:19:10","slug":"the_way_the_q54","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/09\/the_way_the_q54.html","title":{"rendered":"The Way The Q54 Strays, Now That Atlas Park Is Down The Way . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some claim that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/boroughs\/queens\/2007\/09\/25\/2007-09-25_pipe_break_floods_archie_bunkers_tv_home.html\">overdevelopment is threatening the cultural heritage of old Queens<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Those transit meatheads caused gushers of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the sentiment in Archie Bunker&#8217;s old neighborhood &#8212; known outside of the TV world as Glendale &#8212; where residents believe a recent water main break was caused by a bus re-routing that put too much stress on the street.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s absolutely the bus routes &#8212; it can&#8217;t be anything else,&#8221; said Dorie Figliola, a member of Community Board 5. &#8220;It just can&#8217;t withstand [the pressure]. Our old pipes are just going.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Q54 bus was re-routed in July so it could stop at the Shops at Atlas Park, a retail complex that opened last year at 80th St. and Cooper Ave.<\/p>\n<p>Atlas Park management hoped the move would attract more customers, and it wants the Q23 and Q45 re-routed so that they also pass by the mall.<\/p>\n<p>But the new route raised concerns about noise, pollution and traffic in a residential area that includes the Cooper Ave. home featured in the opening credits of the hit 1970s sitcom &#8220;All in the Family.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Location Scout: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/bigmap\/queens\/glendale\/bunker\/index.htm\">Archie Bunker&#8217;s House<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some claim that overdevelopment is threatening the cultural heritage of old Queens: Those transit meatheads caused gushers of trouble.
