{"id":3284,"date":"2008-03-28T08:18:44","date_gmt":"2008-03-28T13:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2008\/03\/unintended_consequences_too.html"},"modified":"2008-03-28T08:18:44","modified_gmt":"2008-03-28T13:18:44","slug":"unintended_consequences_too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2008\/03\/unintended_consequences_too.html","title":{"rendered":"Unintended Consequences, Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not only are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2008\/03\/planyc_one_million_more_people_and_110_million_more_pounds_by_2030.html\">New Yorkers getting fat because of the smoking ban<\/a> but some parts of the city are also noticing a disturbing trend of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/stories\/31\/13\/31_13_south_slope_stroller.html\">rising numbers of underage patrons in bars<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>A new South Slope bar has waded into the ongoing battle over whether kids should join their parents at taverns by siding with the stroller set.<\/p>\n<p>Minus the strollers, however.<\/p>\n<p>The owners of the one-month-old Toby&#8217;s Public House, a pizzeria\/bar on the corner of 21st Street and Sixth Avenue, have posted the seemingly contradictory sign on the door reading, &#8220;NO STROLLERS, FAMILY FRIENDLY.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s no contradiction &#8212; kids are welcome. General Manager Tim Judge will even give you a bike lock to secure your stroller outside.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a very small space, so we can&#8217;t let strollers inside,&#8221; said Judge. &#8220;But we&#8217;ve got locks for six or seven strollers.
