Mmmm . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Census Bureau crunched the numbers and found that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypost.com\/news\/regionalnews\/29917.htm\">New York City&#8217;s population increases by 563,000 people each day<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The Big Apple swells by 563,000 people during the day \u00e2\u20ac\u201d more than any other city in the country, according to the Census Bureau&#8217;s first-ever estimates on daytime population changes.<\/p>\n<p>The report tracks how the nation&#8217;s cities are affected by commuter traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the data, based on the 2000 Census, can be used for planning and disaster-relief efforts.<\/p>\n<p>New York&#8217;s daytime growth, while huge, is only 7 percent of the city&#8217;s population of 8 million.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Other towns that would benefit from a commuter tax included Washington, D.C.
