{"id":525,"date":"2005-12-09T10:11:15","date_gmt":"2005-12-09T18:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2005\/12\/smell_returns.html"},"modified":"2005-12-09T10:11:15","modified_gmt":"2005-12-09T18:11:15","slug":"smell_returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/12\/smell_returns.html","title":{"rendered":"Smell Returns?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/10\/the_sweet_smell.html\">the strange smell from October<\/a> returned? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/local\/story\/373150p-317249c.html\">Inconclusive<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Perplexed pedestrians phoned the Fire Department and 311 yesterday afternoon when the sweet yet bewildering odor resurfaced in areas from the Flatiron District to the upper East and West Sides.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It seems to be a repeat of what happened in October,&#8221; said Ian Michaels, a spokesman for the Department of Environmental Protection, which is probing the scent.<\/p>\n<p>The DEP used haz-mat equipment to check for compounds in the air at E.82nd St. and York Ave., Columbus Ave. and W.94th St., and even a spot on Maiden Lane downtown yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>So far, investigators have found nothing sinister about the aroma. Testing will continue tomorrow if the scent persists.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2005\/12\/09\/nyregion\/09maple.html\/partner\/rssnyt\">the Times sent out its writer to investigate<\/a> and found nothing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>This reporter took his nose for a stroll on 42nd Street between 11th Avenue and Lexington Avenue.
