{"id":6003,"date":"2010-05-07T07:05:46","date_gmt":"2010-05-07T12:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/?p=6003"},"modified":"2010-05-07T07:20:02","modified_gmt":"2010-05-07T12:20:02","slug":"next_time_please_make_all_edits_in_pencil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2010\/05\/next_time_please_make_all_edits_in_pencil.html","title":{"rendered":"Next Time, Please Make All Edits In Pencil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/05\/06\/nyregion\/06budget.html\">the City budget looks grim for next year<\/a>, the Staten Island Advance identifies ways <a href=\"http:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2010\/05\/new_goof_connects_the_dots.html\">the City is doing its best to use up whatever money is left in this year&#8217;s budget<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Fresh off the pointless labor of putting lines on a Dongan Hills street, the city Department of Transportation was painting the town again yesterday, this time laying reflective white stripes down the center of the West Shore Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>Only problem is, the new paint was dropped right down the pothole-riddled center of the crumbling highway, which is itself slated for milling and repaving starting Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the new hashmarks were actually painted inside the potholes, which had the comical effect of accentuating their depth and craggy edges.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s just the micro version of municipal waste.
