{"id":854,"date":"2006-03-22T09:30:48","date_gmt":"2006-03-22T17:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2006\/03\/we_are_all_exurban_now.html"},"modified":"2006-03-22T09:30:48","modified_gmt":"2006-03-22T17:30:48","slug":"we_are_all_exur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bridgeandtunnelclub.com\/blog\/archives\/2006\/03\/we_are_all_exur.html","title":{"rendered":"We Are All Exurban Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Helicopters are flying overhead this morning searching for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/local\/story\/401884p-340434c.html\">a coyote on the loose in Central Park<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>An &#8220;adventurous&#8221; coyote that has roamed Central Park for four days shook off pursuers with dart guns and eluded capture last night.<\/p>\n<p>Park officers and cops cornered the coyote &#8212; only the second spotted in the park in seven years &#8212; in the 4-acre Hallett Nature Center about 5 p.m. But it leaped over a fence and vanished.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The wily coyote escaped,&#8221; said Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe.<\/p>\n<p>As NYPD aviation units flew overhead, park enforcement control officers hunted the tawny creature, which left a pile of feathers from its last meal in the preserve.<\/p>\n<p>Benepe believes the coyote, which weighs about 60 pounds and resembles a lean German shepherd, came from Westchester County or the Bronx, either swimming across the Spuyten Duyvil Creek or crossing a bridge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very unusual to have them in Manhattan.
