Ladies And Gentlemen, I’m Not Selling Candy For Any Sports Team; I’m Just Trying To Earn The Equivalent Of $55K A Year

Then again, he spends a lot of time and energy hustling to sell candy on the subway, so what’s the problem?

Many Companies Could Learn From These Rebranding Efforts

As if your poor mothers had one more thing to worry about:

In the months after a bus crash on Interstate 95 killed 15 people in the Bronx, federal officials were so concerned about the operation of the bus company, World Wide Travel, that they revoked its registration. But the disciplinary action seems to have had little practical effect.

The owner, Michael Shub, continues to book passengers on buses through two other companies that he owns and that share the same address in Brooklyn that World Wide Travel used.

The shuttered company’s buses are also still on the road; they were simply shifted to Mr. Shub’s other bus operations, according to state officials.

Is NYCHA Getting Ready For First Amendment Cases?

Advertising on public housing seems problematic enough without the long list of products you’d want to restrict:

Bloomberg said guidelines would be required for the types of companies that could promote their products on building lobbies, facades and courtyards.

“Of course, you’ll always have restrictions,” Bloomberg said. “You’re not going to have an ad for a pornographic website, for example … and I think we probably shouldn’t have ads for things that are not healthy for our kids.”

Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

You can never be too casual with mandatory evacuations of large sections of the city when you have an entire Office of Emergency Management ready to roll:

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg ordered a mandatory evacuation — something he said the city had never done before — of coastal areas in Brooklyn; Queens, including all of the Rockaways; and Staten Island, along with Battery Park City and the financial district in Lower Manhattan and Governor’s Island. The evacuation covered 250,000 people who, he said, should get out before the storm swept in.

Seems like an odd thing upon which to stake your mayoral legacy. Mandatory evacuations? What is this, the Outer Banks? I know there’s that whole snow storm they need to atone for, but is this really necessary?

Just Try Not To Pay Attention To The Petrol Notes In The Riesling

Perhaps you found yourself drinking more in the days and months after 9/11. Then we have a wine for you:

Lieb Family Cellars of Mattituck, L.I., says it will donate up to 10% of each sale of the 9/11 Memorial Commemorative Merlot and 9/11 Memorial Commemorative Chardonnay to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

. . .

“What’s next? A 9/11 pastrami sandwich?” asked Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Queens).

. . .

Retailers will pocket $6 from each bottle sold — at the tasteless price of $19.11.
