Meet The Mets, Yobbo!

The Post quips that this yobbo will be forced to root for the Mets now that he is banned from both the current and future versions of Yankee Stadium:

The troubled teen who jumped onto a net strung above more than 100 spectators at Yankee Stadium pleaded guilty yesterday to reckless endangerment, allowing him to avoid jail but barring him from the Stadium forever.

“You are permanently barred from entering the Stadium,” Judge Troy Webber told Scott Harper, 19, of Armonk, at Bronx Supreme Court.

That banishment goes for both the House that Ruth Built and the new Yankee Stadium, for which ground will be broken on Wednesday.

Harper had no comment as he left the courtroom with his lawyer and mother.

The Yankees, who have already barred Harper from the Stadium, had no comment. But prosecutors said team officials told the judge that the Yankees, as victims in the case, had asked that Harper be permanently expelled from the Stadium.

“Due to his conscious disregard of the safety of everyone at the Stadium, the ban is certainly appropriate,” said Barry Kluger, the chief Bronx assistant district attorney.

Harper pleaded guilty to the class A misdemeanor. He admitted that after having a few beers, he propelled himself over a railing and plunged about 40 feet into the netting behind home plate exactly one year ago yesterday during a game against the Chicago White Sox.

“Whatever Happened To . . . ?” Subway Workers’ Contract Edition

TWU Local 100 vowed from the beginning of their dispute with the MTA not to cede members’ right to vote on a contract by sending the matter to binding arbitration. Binding arbitration hearings begin today:

The Transport Workers Union and the MTA start binding arbitration hearings today, returning to the table for the first time since the days following last year’s transit strike.

Both sides have submitted reams of arguments, independent arbitrator George Nicolau said.

Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler In A Leather Bar

The only thing funnier would have been if this had happened at an underwear party:

A man apparently too drunk to hear the bartender announce last call passed out at a fenced-in rooftop Chelsea bar early yesterday — only to wake up hours later to find he was trapped.

“Help!” he cried from atop The Eagle Bar, a leather bar at 554 W. 28th St. “Help! I’m stuck!”

A parking attendant heard Louis Rosano, 39, of the Bronx, yelling for help but didn’t immediately react.

“I went to lunch and came back,” said Rigo Rodrigo, 29, the attendant. “He was still up there.”

Rodrigo said he called 911, and cops arrived at the bar within minutes. Members of the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit climbed a ladder to the roof of the three-story building, cut through the fence and ushered Rosano to safety about 1:30 p.m. [*]

“You know they’re supposed to check the club at closing,” the bleary-eyed man said after the rescue. “Well, the idiots didn’t.”

Cops questioned Rosano and released him, though the incident was still under investigation late yesterday.

“It was a slow night,” he said. “I was having a good night. I probably did pass out.”

*I’m guessing — hoping, really! — that this is a typo!

How Did That Work Out For You?

Are we to assume this means that by destroying the house in order to keep it from his ex-wife, she will perhaps earn even more from the land? How’s that for irony:

The gas blast that leveled Dr. Nicholas Bartha’s landmarked Upper East Side townhouse didn’t lower the property’s value — and may even have increased it, real-estate experts told The Post.

“The value is not in the building, but the land on which it sits — especially in that area,” said Corcoran Group CEO Pamela Liebman.

Another broker, who asked not to be named, said the site, minus the four-story brownstone “is a developer’s dream” because there’s no need to pay for demolition or to go through the costly and time-consuming process of evicting tenants.

He added that it also could be more desirable because a developer wouldn’t have as many landmark issues to contend with — although the new building’s façade would have to be a reasonable facsimile of the original.

Another real-estate source, who has visited the house that Bartha allegedly destroyed rather than give up, said that beyond the exterior, the 96-year-old, 4,931-square-foot house at 34 E. 62nd St. “wasn’t all that terrific.”

“Someone would have bought the place and gutted it,” he said.

So how much is the property worth?

Most experts put the value, with or without the intact four-story brownstone, at between $7 million and $9 million.

The average price of a townhouse on the Upper East Side is $7 million, real-estate experts said. But because Bartha’s lot is slightly wider — 20 feet, rather than 18 feet — it could bring more.

. . . [W]ith a new 8,000-square-foot house built on the site, it could sell for about $15 million, real-estate agent Toni Simon of Halstead Properties told Bloomberg News.

Who Is More Brazen Than A Bank Robber? He Who Turns Around And Robs Him!

It seems that by “good Samaritans” they mean “guys who mug bank robbers”:

Sometimes even bank robbers aren’t safe on the streets.

One of them was mugged in Brooklyn by a thief who got away with his loot.

The bizarre chain of events started when Kareem Sims, 31, witnessed a robbery at the Independence Bank on Avenue U in Gravesend July 3.

Several good Samaritans chased and caught alleged thief James Boccanfusso a few blocks away. In the ensuing confusion, Sims sneaked up and grabbed money bags containing $3,000, police said.

The Samaritans were able to provide cops who busted Boccanfusso with a description of Sims, who was spotted near the bank yesterday. He was charged with robbery and possession of stolen property.
