Civilians Probably Don’t Understand The Pleasure Of Shooting Heavy Artillery At The Neighborhood Firing Range

Further proof that there is a fine line between “gun collection” and “weapons cache”:

Prosecutors said Gregory Brozski, 56, kept more than 50 guns in his home and garage at 65-32 223rd Place, the second-floor co-op where he has lived with his mother since he was 16. He was arrested July 25, along with a West Islip man also charged with illegally possessing heavy artillery, after an investigation by Suffolk County police led them to Bayside, the Suffolk district attorney said.

Investigators said they found more than 50 weapons in Brozski’s home, including four AK-47 assault rifles, four UZI submachine guns, eight AR 15 semi-automatic rifles and a grenade launcher. He was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon. Brozski pleaded not guilty in district court in Central Islip and was released on his own recognizance, a spokeswoman for the DA’s office said.

The person who answered the phone at his apartment said Brozski was not available for comment. But neighbors said he was a quiet man who liked to collect guns but would only use them on trips to a firing range in Pennsylvania.

One neighbor, who declined to give her name, said she knew about the weapons but was never afraid he would use them.

“He looks mean but he’s not,” the neighbor said. “He’s a pussycat.”

She said Brozski had lived in the co-op with his mother for some 40 years and he took care of the elderly woman, who was recently hospitalized. He is a Vietnam War veteran who rarely talked about his time in the service. The neighbor said Brozski may have taken some weapons home from the war.

“The man’s a collector,” she said. “He would never use any of those weapons on anybody.”

Meow.

Wow, That Takes Balls

Actors at the “American Girls Revue” have walked out on the job, citing unfair labor practices:

Sisters Elizabeth and Savannah Powers came to the ‘tween shopping mecca American Girl Place yesterday, dolls in tow, to watch their favorite characters on stage in “The American Girls Revue.” Too bad Uncle Guard, Cornelia and the majority of the cast were outside waving protest signs on a picket line.

The actors claim the New York retail store and theater, part of the American Girl empire, is guilty of unfair labor practices, withdrawing proposed salary raises after they expressed interest in joining the Actors’ Equity Association.

“I went to school four years to become an actor,” said Kalynn Dodge, who walked out of rehearsal to protest in the sweltering heat. “The next step is to become a member of the union, and we want to take the next step. It’s not right.”

The show went on inside the Fifth Avenue theater, but some scenes were cut. Some roles were filled by sales associates and managers and others went unfilled. Parents weren’t offered refunds for their $32 tickets but were allowed to come back to see another show for free.

“It’s disrespectful to us actors that they did that,” said Mat Sanders, 24, an actor at the store since December. “It’s also disrespectful to those who pay $32 a ticket to see the show that they’re not using real actors.”

All You’ve Done Is Give Fox A Reason To Restart That Smarmy “America’s Dumbest Criminals” Series

Important advice here — when sending suspicious-looking powder through the mail, feel free to omit your return address:

A Brooklyn teen, apparently angry about a drug bust, didn’t know write from wrong when he mailed cops an envelope stuffed with white powder — and bearing his name and address.

Cops from the 73rd Precinct easily tracked down Adbullah Date shortly after the letter arrived at the East New York Avenue station house Wednesday.

“Ha Ha, [you] thought it was anthrax. F – – – you,” Date, 18, allegedly scribbled. He also taunted: “Catch me if you can.”

Then he wrote his name, birthday and Hull Street address on the envelope, says a complaint unsealed by the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney’s Office. Date was arrested last month by cops who said they saw him toss crack vials out a window, court documents show.

By This Math, If Your Power Was Out For Ten Days You Should Only Be Paying $9 A Month For Electricity

Con Ed announced that they would be issuing a $3 credit to residents affected by the blackout:

Con Ed is giving long-suffering Queens customers who were blacked out for more than a week a bonus for their pain and suffering — $3.

That’s what most residential customers will receive as part of a Con Ed request the state Public Service Commission granted yesterday.

The credit — for billing and meter charges — will be reflected in their upcoming bill.

The Question Is Whether A Reasonable Person Would Believe That Your Momma Actually Was A Prostitute

In a litigious society, even Yo Momma jokes are grounds for slander:

The mother of potty-mouthed hip-hop spinner DJ Star dived into a heated battle with her son’s radio rivals yesterday — hitting the owners of station Hot 97 with an $11 million lawsuit for letting one of their disc jockeys bad-mouth her on the air.

Hannah Hightower, a retired schoolteacher, claims she was defamed when Hot 97 personality Miss Jones called her “a prostitute” while taking a shot at Troi Torain, known as DJ Star on Power 105.1.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court against Emmis Radio, quotes Jones as saying, “Your white mom was nothing but a prostitute that your dad turned out,” and “got knocked up by the blackest, blackest, blackest n – – – – r.”

(You can say that on the radio?)
