Ambulance Camouflage

That’s how you beat a ticket:

A mystery emergency vehicle, fitted with ambulance flashers and official markings, has hogged up space at an expired meter on Avenue N in Marine Park for more than a week, but has not been towed, area merchants claim — even though the “ambulance” is stuffed with construction material.

Great Optics! Let’s Skip The Details . . .

I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time:

Occupy Wall Street protesters announced with great fanfare last month that they moved a homeless family into a “foreclosed” Brooklyn home — even though they knew the house belonged to a struggling single father desperately trying to renegotiate his mortgage, The Post has learned.

. . .

[The father] even attended the Dec. 6 press conference at the house when the [homeless family was] introduced. He wanted to tell reporters his story.

“[OWS] told me not to talk to them [reporters] because they [OWS] had an offer for me,” he said.

At a second meeting after the press conference, however, organizers said they would not pay him for the house. At that point, he told them to leave.

Inside the house the walls are knocked down and all of his belongings, including a stove, refrigerator and bedroom furniture, have been moved to the basement.

“I’m pissed off,” he said.

“I’m trying to get my house back, and they’re trying to take it from me.”

And When You Get To Thinking About All The Saturated Fat, Eventually You Start Thinking That The Packers Should Probably Win, Just To Be On The Safe Side

Oh Lord:

Nanny Bloomberg’s battle against demon booze is even affecting his Super Bowl bet with the mayor of the Packers’ hometown.

In a fit of hooch hatred, Hizzoner has asked Green Bay Mayor James Schmitt to take bottles of ice wine out of their intercity pregame bet and replace the libations with harmless soft drinks.

Further Proof That People In Brooklyn Are Physically Incapable Of Resisting A “Farm-To-Table” Restaurant

That’s how you work with the neighbors:

A once-embattled Park Slope sports bar will open with a new name and a strikingly different business model in hopes of becoming a slam-dunk for community foodies — not arena crowds.

Woodland, a farm-to-table eatery with an outdoorsy motif, will start serving food on Feb. 1 in the storefront at Flatbush and Sixth avenues that was slated to become Prime 6, a music venue and watering hole that sparked neighborhood controversy without ever opening amid concerns it would draw rowdy basketball fans and a hip hop scene.

. . .

The menu at Woodland includes “Napa Valley-style” new American dishes such as bison burgers and fresh fish — a far cry from the planned menu at Prime 6, which featured bottle service and bar food.

So If The Health Department Raises Blood Pressure, The Health Department Is Bad For The City’s Health And Should Clearly Be Curbed

If the administration did less “brainstorming,” the Post would have less copy and we’d all have lower blood pressure:

Mayor Bloomberg yesterday scuttled a controversial city proposal to slash the number of booze establishments to curb excessive and underage drinking.

. . .

Asked if the mayor now backed the effort to limit businesses that can serve alcohol, Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser answered, “No.”

“One reason the mayor has been successful in office is because we think there are no bad ideas in brainstorming — and then we weigh them against other concerns. We’re deeply committed to encouraging entrepreneurs to start and expand small businesses in the city,” Loeser said.
